The highest statue of Bodhisattva

Linh Ung – Bai But Pagoda is located halfway up the Son Tra Peninsula. The pagoda’s signature is the highest statue of Bodhisattva in Vietnam, with a height of 67 meters. The statue stands against the mountains and looks over the sea. One of her hand holding a bottle of holy while another hand is set in a mudra gesture to the pursuit of happiness and peace for Da Nang people, for them to live in security and good health. 

Besides the Bodhisattva statue, the other highlight of the pagoda is the main hall. As a sacred and solemn place, the main hall is such a special area. On the right of the main hall is the statue of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, on the left is Bodhisattva Vajra, and the middle is the place for worshipping Buddha Shakyamuni. All three statues were made of copper, which brings a high sense of solemnity. The 2 sides of the place itself is a line of 18 legendary Arhats that causes a sense of security. According to legend, each Arhat is the embodiment of different levels of emotion in each person, such as happiness, sadness, anger, anger, anger etc. 

Best time to visit

The visitors should pay attention to the weather in Son Tra Peninsula. And the period from March to September is the best time to visit Linh Ung – Bai But Pagoda, when it rarely rains and the weather is dry and cool. This seems to be a great condition for visitors’ travel and health.

How to get there

To reach out for the pagoda, the very first thing you need to do is find the way to Son Tra Peninsula. Tourists can choose from one of the vehicles including couch, taxi, motorcycle or book a tour operated by a travel company.

Just get out of the taxi and onto 2 wheels, you will have maximum flexibility to visit remote regions and stop whenever and wherever you wish. It’s free for a wander around the pagoda. However, there is a donation box. The whole amount of money is for rebuilding, fixing, and repairing as well as remaining activities. 

If you want to take a photo of your visit to the statue of Bodhisattva, pay the photographer there over 2 bucks. 

Notes

• Due to its proximity to the sea, Linh Ung Bai But Pagoda still cannot avoid the sun and heat in estival days despite being surrounded by many trees. Prepare a wide-brimmed hat or a large umbrella to protect yourself from the sun. However, warm clothes are still needed for the nights. 
• Do not wear revealing clothes, which are not suitable for the environment of the temple. Wearing discreet outfits to show their respect and devotion.
• To enter Linh Ung Bai But pagoda, visitors will not have to pay any entrance fee, but the parking fee is not included. The parking service at the temple will be monitored by the Buddhists. It’s fine to pay how many you please for the fee and put it in the donation box. The abbot will use this money to upgrade the pagoda. 
• Keep your belongings in self-preservation when you get to the pagoda in the peak season. Do not bring too many cash or valuable items inside. Wearing your bag across your chest is highly recommended for security. 
• Wearing a pair of sneakers or running shoes because you will have to walk for a long way. It’s for protecting your own feet.
